Learning above the ruler
The general project idea
The learning competences questionnaire was developed by the University of Antwerp and the company Domo de Refontiro in the context of the IWT innovation mandate 'Learning above the ruler'.
The aim of the 'Learning above the ruler' project is to check whether the effect of formal professional development activities (training courses, workshops, seminars, etc.) can be increased by better synchronizing the instructional methods of those activities to the participants' learning competencies. This way, the project wants to raise the effect of such activities 'above the ruler'.
The aim of the learning competences questionnaire is twofold. On the one hand it aims at raising awareness in individual employees of their learning competences. On the other hand the results of the questionnaire provide trainers with information on how to better synchronize their instructional methods to the learning competences of their participants. Research and development therefore went hand in hand in this project.
The learning competences questionnaire
To realize the project goals' , we needed a quality tool to map out the learning competences of participants. We therefore devised the learning competences questionnaire. Because we feel the instrument is also useful outside the project, we decided to make available a free version to everybody who is interested.
The learning competences questionnaire is based on existing high-quality questionnaires. The were translated and adapted to the context of work-related learning by the project-team. Through co-creation between Domo de Refontiro and the University of Antwerp a feedback-module was developed. Depending on the version of the questionnaire the feedback is more or less elaborate.
The data we collect from people filling the questionnaire will be used for research by the University of Antwerp to, among other things, improve the quality of the tool. If you are interested to use the learning competences questionnaire in your own research, you can contact the project team through the contact form.
